The short answers parents ask most.
What does adaptive mean here?
Practice uses recent performance to adjust the challenge. Optional chore guides use the child's own attempts and reviewed steps to suggest a manageable start or a later increase. Parents approve changes. The app estimates from activity; it does not know why a child paused or struggled.
Does a smaller step replace the chore?
No. Pulling up the blanket can be a starting step toward making the bed. A reviewed step makes effort visible, but the full chore and its reward still have their own completion requirements. The longer-term aim is doing more independently, not permanently lowering expectations.
Does read-aloud record my child?
No. Read-aloud plays app content or uses the device voice. It does not record through the microphone. Separately enabled voice assistants process spoken requests under their own privacy policies.
Does every family train one shared model?
Not in the current chore feature. It uses the child's own history. Cross-household learning is not activated, and we do not claim that each new signup automatically makes the app smarter for everyone.
Does PrettySure handle real money?
No. PrettySure never transfers money, holds funds, or issues cards. Rewards (including any allowance amount you choose to show) are arranged and given by you, offline. Numbers in the app are just tracking aids. See our Terms for details.
Is it safe for my child's data?
Children use a parent-managed profile. They don't create their own logins or share personal contact info. We don't show ads or sell personal data, and you can delete a child's data (including photos) at any time. Read our Privacy & Children's Privacy policy.
How do rewards work?
You set up a few reward options; your child picks the one they want to work toward. As they finish quests and you approve them, one progress bar fills toward that reward. When it's full, you give the reward in real life.
What stops my kid from just gaming the reading timer?
Honestly, a determined kid can let a timer run. So reading quests can include a quick comprehension check, photo chores need your approval, and you decide what counts. A timer is a record of a session, not independent proof of reading. Talk through the work with your child if something looks wrong.
Do my kids need their own devices or accounts?
A separate device is optional. Children can use the web child view on a shared device without their own email or password. The native Kids app uses a device paired by a parent; native store releases are still in development.
Can I add more than one child?
Yes. Each child gets their own weekly bar and rewards, and they can all pitch in toward a shared family goal, like saving up for a trip together.
What ages is it for?
The current setup is designed for roughly ages 5–12. Reading and math quests adapt to each child's level, and parents can turn specific skills on or off.
How much does it cost?
PrettySure is completely free for now, with no card required, no paid upgrade, and no trial countdown. We have not set an end date. If paid options are introduced later, we will explain them first; you will not be charged unless you choose one.
Do I have to log in every day?
Review often enough for the plan you choose. Photo chores and submitted steps need parent attention. Optional reminders can help, but delivery depends on the platform and permissions; they do not replace supervision.
